Mask serves on Superintendent Advisory Council

Class of 2019 graduate, John Mask, has been selected to serve on the Mississippi Superintendent’s Advisory Council.

Dr. Carey Wright, State Superintendent of Education, decided to form a council of high school and college students to help advise her on the issues facing Mississippi education. Students were chosen from 83 school districts and colleges statewide. Mask is serving as representative of Northeast MS Community College where he is studying secondary education.

Mask is an aspiring educator within our state. He is currently working part-time with the Alcorn School District as a Computer Technician. Mask’s greatest focus is making an impact. He said, “I am grateful to serve MDE because I feel that we can truly make a difference. We need to put education at the forefront, so we can continue to grow as a state. I look forward to our future accomplishments and hope to make connections with members from throughout the state.”

The council held its first meeting Friday, November 15 at the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson.
