Mrs. Nan Nethery and Destiny Ozbirn

   The Alcorn Career and Technology Center is pleased to announce that Destiny Ozbirn was named the ACTC Rotary Student for November.   Destiny is a senior at Kossuth High School.   She is working towards being a program completer in the Teacher Academy program at ACTC, and she is a first year student in Digital Media.  She was nominated to be our Rotary representative by her Teacher Academy instructor, Nan Nethery.

   At the Alcorn Career and Technology Center, Destiny is the vice president of the National Technical Honor Society.  She is a Career Delegate for the Teacher Academy class, and she serves as a teacher intern at Kossuth Elementary.  Destiny was chosen as the 2018-2019 ACTC Citizenship Award recipient, and she has also volunteered to help with Mississippi Special Olympics. 

  At Kossuth, Destiny is ranked 16th and has an ACT score of 31.  She participates in a number of extra-curricular activities, but has excelled in FBLA, where she serves as the State President for Mississippi and as the FBLA National President’s Executive Director of Programs.  Destiny also was chosen to serve on the State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council in Jackson. 

   Destiny is an active member of our community, serving as a mentor with the Community Connections Program and helping with the ACTC Food Drive.  She also currently serves as the President of the Junior Civitan Club.

   After graduation, Destiny plans to attend the University of Mississippi and major in Elementary Education with a concentration in math and Spanish.  She aspires to return to the Alcorn School District as an elementary teacher.
