Elijah Hodum, Rotary Student of the Month

The Alcorn Career and Technology Center was pleased to name Elijah Hodum as the ACTC Rotary Student for February.   Elijah is a senior at Kossuth High School, and he is currently a program completer in Agriculture Power and Equipment at ACTC. Elijah is also finishing up the Carpentry and Metal Fabrication programs this year, which will make him a three program completer.  He has also earned two National Certifications while at ACTC.

At the Center, Elijah has been a member of our FFA Chapter, and our SkillsUSA Chapter as well as the National Technical Honor Society.  He has represented us in both FFA and SkillsUSA competitions.  He won first place in the Northeast Federation Team Welding Competition and fourth place in the Individual Welding Regional Competition.  Elijah was recently chosen Student of the Quarter at the Center, as well as chosen by the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation as their Student of the Month for the Northern Region of the State.  He is now in the running for the MCEF Student of the Year.

Aside from all of his school related honors, Elijah has been selected to work as an intern for two different industries.  Last summer, he was one of six students who completed an internship at CAT Reman in Corinth.  This year he went through a series of industry interviews and was selected to work as intern at Oil-Dri in Ripley.  This internship paid a highly competitive wage and provided additional monies for continuing education, so it was very prestigious internship.

After graduation, Elijah plans to attend Northeast Mississippi Community College and major in Welding.
