Culinary Students pose at a replica of WoolWorth's Lunch Counter

Culinary Arts and Digital Media students visited Memphis last week and made stops at the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel and Dyer's Burgers on Historic Beale Street.  At the museum students learned about the Civil Right's Movement and were able to see hands-on displays of Rosa Parks' Bus Ride, the WoolWorth's Lunch Counter and the Freedom Rider's Bus Bombing.  They also were able to see where Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated and where the fatal shot was fired from.  Students then went to eat at Dyer's Burgers, a historic Memphis restaurant that cooks their burgers in 100 plus year old grease.
