ASD adds new buses

The Alcorn School District (ASD) is set to elevate the student transportation experience with the recent addition of three brand-new buses. Each of the district's campuses will be receiving one of these modern vehicles and should soon be seen on the regular morning and afternoon routes.

These buses, a part of the regular fleet, are not only the latest models but also boast a blend of comfort and functionality. Notably, they are the first in the ASD fleet to come equipped with both air conditioning and heating systems, ensuring a comfortable environment for students in all weather conditions.

Recognizing the importance of air conditioning, especially during extreme weather, administrators have agreed to share buses among campuses as needed for special trips when possible. This initiative underscores the district's commitment to ensuring the well-being of all students by working together for the good of all.

Another of the standout features of the new buses is their innovative design, featuring offset seat rows. This design enhancement aims to make movement within the bus easier for students, improving overall safety and efficiency during boarding and disembarking.

Randy Holt, the Director of Transportation for ASD, expressed his enthusiasm for the recent additions. He emphasized the district's commitment to updating the transportation fleet regularly and is currently pursuing possible grant monies to help meet his goal of acquiring three new buses, one for each campus, each year. The commitment to ongoing improvements in transportation infrastructure reflects the district's dedication to creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for all students.
