Social Contract

Building Strong Classrooms with Social Contracts

At Alcorn Central Elementary, we believe that strong relationships are the foundation for learning. That’s why, at the beginning of every school year, each class creates a Social Contract as part of our Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) program.

A Social Contract is more than just a set of classroom rules—it’s a shared agreement that students and teachers create together. It answers four important questions:

  • How do we want to be treated by our teachers?

  • How do we want to be treated by our classmates?

  • How do we want to treat our teachers?

  • How do we want to treat each other when conflict happens?

Through discussion, brainstorming, and teamwork, students decide on the values and behaviors that will help everyone feel respected, safe, and supported. Each student signs the contract as a commitment to holding themselves and one another accountable.

By working together to build these agreements, our students are learning responsibility, respect, and teamwork—skills that will serve them well in school and beyond.

At ACES, our Social Contracts are just one way we are creating a positive, connected school culture where every student feels valued and ready to succeed.
