First grade students recently participated in a hands-on STEM activity inspired by the classic story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. After reading the story, students worked alongside family members to design and build a bed just right for Goldilocks.
Using simple materials such as popsicle sticks, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, and tape, students and families collaborated to problem-solve, plan, and create bed designs. The activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking as students tested their ideas and made adjustments along the way.
This engaging STEM experience allowed students to connect literature with real-world engineering concepts while strengthening family-school partnerships. It was a fun and meaningful way for students to bring a beloved story to life through learning and collaboration.
