Coach Moore

ACMS Names Coach Nick Moore as 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year

Alcorn Central Middle School is proud to recognize Coach Nick Moore as the 2025–2026 ACMS Teacher of the Year. With 14 years of experience in education and a passion rooted in relationships, mentorship, and service, Coach Moore exemplifies what it means to make a lasting impact on students both inside and outside the classroom.

A Foundation Built on Mentorship and Inspiration

Coach Moore’s journey into education was inspired by the outstanding teachers he had at Wheeler High School and the mentorship he received from his baseball coaches. Those early influences showed him the power of guidance, encouragement, and leadership—lessons that eventually led him from coaching into the classroom.

Over the years, Coach Moore has taught a wide range of subjects and grade levels, including 7th and 8th Grade Health and Science, Physical Education at the elementary through high school levels, and 7th Grade Cyber Foundations. Regardless of the setting, his belief remains the same: great teachers lead by example, and relationships are the foundation for learning.

Teaching with Energy, Structure, and Heart

Coach Moore describes his teaching style as relationship-first, energetic, and structured. His classroom is a place where students feel safe to take academic risks while being supported by clear expectations and consistent encouragement. By making real-world connections, aligning lessons with student interests, and using positive reinforcement, he keeps students engaged and excited about learning.

As both a teacher and coach, Coach Moore finds his greatest reward in watching students grow. Whether it’s building confidence, overcoming challenges, or discovering curiosity, he values the moments when students realize they can succeed—academically and personally.

Building Strong Relationships Beyond the Classroom

Relationships are at the heart of Coach Moore’s work. He invests time in getting to know his students, models the behaviors he expects, and shows genuine care in everything he does. His involvement as a baseball coach and FCA sponsor allows him to connect with students beyond the classroom, strengthening bonds and providing meaningful mentorship.

A Humbling Honor and a Career of Commitment

Being named Teacher of the Year is a humbling experience for Coach Moore. He views the recognition as a reflection of a strong team effort and the supportive culture at ACMS. He credits the faculty and staff for fostering a school environment rooted in excellence, collaboration, and student-focused teaching.

Among his proudest accomplishments are being named Teacher of the Year at Burnsville Middle School in 2019, Teacher of the Year at Alcorn Central Middle School, and FCA Sponsor of the Year in 2024—honors that highlight his sustained commitment to mentorship, leadership, and community involvement.

Growth, Balance, and Purpose

Coach Moore continues to grow professionally by maintaining a growth mindset, advancing his degree in educational leadership, collaborating with colleagues, and reflecting on his practice. He draws daily inspiration from his students, his coaching experiences, and most importantly, his family—his wife Jackie and daughters Mallie and Livi.

Balancing family life with high expectations in the classroom and on the field has shaped him as an educator. Guided by his faith, Coach Moore emphasizes the importance of God and family first, a value that influences his teaching and leadership.

Life Beyond School

Outside of school, Coach Moore enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. From fishing and hunting to hiking and backwoods camping, he finds peace in nature. He has even completed hikes on sections of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, Land Between the Lakes in Tennessee, and Virgin Falls in Sparta, Tennessee. (And for a fun fact—he was born on Friday the 13th in October of 1989!)

Looking Ahead

This year, Coach Moore hopes his students build confidence, develop resilience, become curious thinkers, and experience measurable academic and personal growth. His advice to new teachers is simple but powerful: prioritize relationships, seek mentorship, and invest in students as whole people.

When students look back years from now, Coach Moore hopes they remember him as a man of God who genuinely cared and pushed them to be their best.

Alcorn Central Middle School is honored to celebrate Nick Moore, a teacher, coach, mentor, and leader who truly makes a difference. Congratulations to our 2025–2026 ACMS Teacher of the Year!
