transportation

Tupelo, MS – The Alcorn School District’s transportation leadership—Director Randy Holt, with dedicated team members Alvin Judd, Kevin Hall, Steve Leggett, and Allen Lyles—recently attended the Mississippi Association for Pupil Transportation (MAPT) Summer Conference. Their participation underscores ASD’s steadfast commitment to ensuring student safety on the road, 365 days a year.

🚍 Why This Matters to Our Community

Every day, hundreds of Alcorn students rely on district buses to transport them safely to and from school and extracurriculars. Attending MAPT enabled our team to:

  • Explore the latest in bus and route safety, from advanced driver training techniques to new vehicle technology standards.

  • Network with peers and safety experts statewide, sharing best practices and lessons learned.

  • Stay current on regulations and safety protocols, ensuring continued compliance and ongoing improvement.

Year‑Round Safety = Peace of Mind

The ASD doesn’t just prepare its buses for back-to-school in July. From regularly scheduled vehicle maintenance and seasonal safety checks to ongoing driver certification and route refinement, the district invests time and resources year-round. Participation in MAPT’s Summer Conference highlights ASD’s proactive approach: continuous learning and adjustments to serve families better and keep our children safe.

Message from Randy Holt:
“Attending MAPT is more than training—it’s making every connection we can to prioritize transportation safety in the ASD,” Holt says. “Our children deserve the best, and our team is dedicated to delivering that every single day.”

As summer routines continue, ASD parents and staff can feel confident knowing our transportation professionals are armed with the latest tools, insights, and dedication—driving safety forward, every mile of the journey.
