Six students from Alcorn Central Middle School have earned spots in the All-State Honor Choirs following auditions held during the Mississippi Music Educators Association (MMEA) annual conference at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, November 27–29.
Competing among hundreds of singers from across Mississippi, these students successfully auditioned and were selected for statewide recognition:
5th–6th grade choir: Kolby Barnes, Lily Brooke Kirkland, Carmondy Potter, and Abigail Michael
Junior high choir: Lyric Coln and Lauren Gifford
A special commendation goes to Lyric Coln, who was called forward at the conference to receive a medal for ranking among the top five scores in the soprano section.
The district congratulates all six students for their remarkable achievement and dedication to musical excellence.
