The Alcorn School District (ASD) is celebrating outstanding student achievement after being recognized among the top-performing districts in Mississippi based on newly released graduation data from the Mississippi Department of Education.

According to the state’s 2024–25 Graduation Rate Report, ASD ranks among the Top 10 districts in Mississippi in multiple key categories:

  • #4 Highest Graduation Rate for Students with Disabilities: 95.5%

  • #5 Highest Overall Graduation Rate: 98.2%

  • Top 10 Lowest Dropout Rate: 1.3%

These results significantly exceed the statewide graduation rate of 90.8% and dropout rate of 7%, reflecting the district’s sustained commitment to student success across all learner groups.

A Culture Where Students Thrive

A 98.2% graduation rate signals that nearly every student who enters ASD schools crosses the finish line prepared for what comes next. A 1.3% dropout rate underscores the district’s intentional focus on engagement, strong relationships, and comprehensive student support. Most notably, a 95.5% graduation rate for students with disabilities reflects a system where the district’s commitment to ALL students is more than a promise—it is a practice. In addition, ASD achieved a 100% graduation rate for students identified as economically disadvantaged, further demonstrating the district’s focus on removing barriers and ensuring every student has the support needed to succeed.

This success aligns directly with the ASD mission:
“The ASD is committed to life-long learning through the establishment of a safe, positive, excellence-driving culture supportive of ALL students, staff, and community.”

That culture is evident in classrooms, intervention systems, and pathways designed to meet the needs of every learner. The district’s performance for students with disabilities—graduating at a rate more than 24 percentage points higher than the state average of 71.1%—demonstrates a deep commitment to inclusive practices and individualized support.

From early learning through graduation, ASD’s focus remains clear: students are empowered to Learn, Lead, and EXCEL.

Aligning with Statewide Progress

State data show Mississippi continues to make historic gains, with graduation rates increasing and dropout rates declining compared to the previous year. State leaders attribute improvements to high-quality instruction, expanded pathways to graduation, and increased participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

ASD’s results not only reflect this statewide momentum but position the district as a model of what is possible when strong instruction, student support, and community partnership work together.

A Community Effort

Alcorn School District leaders emphasize that this success belongs to the entire ASD community—students who remain focused on their goals, educators who provide high-quality instruction and encouragement, families who support persistence, and community partners who help create meaningful opportunities.

Together, their efforts ensure that more students graduate prepared for college, careers, and lifelong success.
