The MPOWER College and Career Expo has announced the date for its third annual exhibition.

The expo will take place Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Crossroads Arena. The event is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors in Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah and Tishomingo Counties; NEMCC Adult Education and Workforce students; college students; and parents.

The date allows for students from Corinth High School to visit the fair, as last year’s scheduling did not allow for it.

“[For] the last two years, our event has been held during their three week fall break,” said organizer and Alcorn School District career coach Taylor Johnson. “However, this year’s date allows their students to attend and we are so excited. When we first started our career coach journey, the Alcorn School District and the Corinth School District met often to plan for college fairs, then the school calendar and other things seemed to create more division. We are all excited to be working together again to expose, prepare, and connect our students to the many opportunities in our region.”

Corinth School District career coaches Kasey Atkins and Candace Marlar and ASD career coaches Taylor Johnson and Rebecca Lewis met with The Alliance on Tuesday to discuss plans and a date was set. Planning was done in collaboration with The Alliance president and CEO G.T. McCullough, Director of Business Development Anna McCalla, Director of Community Development Prentiss Young and summer intern Adelyn Mathis.

Last year, the convention boasted over 100 vendors, including all U.S. Military branches, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Caterpillar, Magnolia Regional Health Center, Tennessee Valley Authority and ACE Power.

MPOWER organizers are looking for surrounding schools and vendors to participate in the expo. Anyone interested is encouraged to reach out to Taylor Johnson at taylorjohnson@alcorn schools.org.
