Gabriel Tanner, a friend of the AAEC, has been commuting on foot to work and to NEMCC to complete his schoolwork. Thanks to a generous community, and the help of handy students from Mr. Fagan's Ag Power class, Gabe now has a more efficient means to accomplish his admirable goals. It's encouraging to see a community come together for the continued success of others who are endeavoring to do well for themselves. Work hard, and stay safe on the road Gabe!
Strong winds knocked down the flagpole at AAEC. Matthew Young, a welding student at ACTC across the street, came by all on his own to help! AAEC is a unique school that serves all Alcorn School District campuses as its primary function. We don't take it for granted when we see this cooperation and service reciprocated! Tommy Wilson brought a very special guest to speak with AAEC students today, Mrs. Maria Wilson of Wilco Real Estate Group! Maria discussed real estate career pathways with the students, and answered many questions. Thanks to Mr.Tommy for the cookies and bringing in his better half to teach us about becoming a real estate agent. We are ALL lucky to have heard from her!
Sgt. Hernandez came to speak to AAEC high school students today about the Marine Corp. We're very thankful for these opportunities for students to see viable life options after high school. Thanks to Sgt. Hernandez for meeting with our students today!

Hot off the press! Our very own Mary Eaton is the recipient of the Alcorn County Red Rose Award for being an outstanding woman educator. Ms. Mary is very deserving of this honor, to say the least. We are proud of the work she does, and grateful for a community that recognizes her value as well. This award is courtesy of the Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International.
Congratulations to AAEC Teacher of the Year 2024, Mr. Matthew Young! Mr. Young fills a vital gap at AAEC as an instructional leader for students, and for ASD as a technology coach for teachers. The positive impact Mr. Young has on students is evident by their behavior and academic growth. His hard work and dedication are much appreciated by all at AAEC.
Bro. Tommy and Wesley with Living Free Ministries brought two guests with them to AAEC today: Alcorn County Circuit Clerk, Christy Starling and Mississippi First Circuit Court Judge, John White. Students and staff gave their full attention as these two shared wisdom from their unique perspectives. It's comforting to know that we have fair and community-driven officials who seek to make a difference by meeting with and encouraging AAEC & ACTC students. Thank you both for you time today!

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at AAEC! Today we had several community members and parents stop by to share a meal, play a game, and give thanks. Many students that graduate from the AAEC program go on to be successful in their original school environment, and we are grateful these as well as the ones here now and those that are to come. 🙏
This week Living Free Ministry brought Justin with them to share his story with AAEC students. Justin explained how he found victory and freedom over a life challenged by addiction. Justin is one of many guests from the Freedom Center that presents a positive example of overcoming extreme circumstances.

Alternative school isn't the place that students want to be on their birthday, but at AAEC we find that taking the time to celebrate and affirm students in Good Things like this builds confidence and improves work ethic and behavior. We've had a lot of October birthdays this year, both students and staff.

Today Living Free Ministries brought a special guest with them to AAEC! Rodney Williams is the author of "Club Meth to Christ". Mr. Rodney shared his inspiring story of forgiveness and redemption with AAEC students today. Students received an encouraging message of hope, and also a free copy of his book. We appreciate our continued partnership with Living Free Ministries, and the opportunity to hear from Rodney Williams today.
