KHS Powerlifting Takes 10th Regional Title

On Friday February 7th, the Kossuth Aggie Powerlifting team hosted the Regional powerlifting meet at the Kossuth High School Gym. The Kossuth Aggies won their 10th Region 1-3A Championship, on their own home floor, sweeping all other competition for the overall win. The Aggies defeated the second runner up, Alcorn Central, 69-33. Eleven of the twelve Aggie lifters also qualified to compete again, for the North Half title, after finishing in the top three of their weight class. North Half will also be held at Kossuth High School on March 6th. Congratulations again, to the Aggie Powerlifters on their 10th Regional Championship!

Candler Robinson, 2nd place, -114 class 

Eric Ruiz, 1st place, -132 class

Reese Crum, 2nd place, -148 class

Tucker Wegmann, 1st place, -165 class

Tate Rogers, 3rd place, -165 class 

Nathan Gifford, 1st place, -181 class 

Chandler Moody, 1st place, -198 class

Zamarius Alexander, 2nd place, -220 class

Ethan Martindale, 1st place, -242 class

 Andres Perez, 1st place, - 275 class

Walter Hastings, 1st place, -308+ class.

Several school records were broken during this competition. Eric Ruiz broke the current squat record in his weight class, with 360 pounds. Ethan Martindale broke his weight class squat record with 550 pounds. Walter Hastings broke the SHW (Super Heavy Weight) Squat record, with 640 pounds. Aggie senior Chandler Moody broke three school records in his weight class: Squat 530 pounds, Dead Lift 550 pounds, and Total Lifted 1345 pounds.
