Nan Nethery and her students from the Alcorn Career and Technology Center’s Teacher Academy program hosted the 2018 Educator’s Rising Northern Region, Fall Conference.  The conference was held at Northeast MS Community College in Booneville, MS on Friday, October 12, 2018.  Students and teacher leaders were inspired by Mark Davidson, keynote speaker, as he spoke about the Secrets to Success.  Students from 10 different schools across the northern region of the state attended the conference.  They participated in breakout sessions lead by Rebecca Lewis and Keri McMillian, as well as, a mini college fair.  The central region conference is being held in Madison, MS and the southern region conference in Biloxi, MS.

Educators Rising is a national membership organization that provides students with authentic opportunities to experience teaching and build the skills they need to be successful educators. These aspiring educators and their mentors connect and deepen their learning through the EdRising Virtual Campus, a cutting-edge online community that offers rigorous resources to support the development of great teachers.

Students can compete in various education related events on the state and national levels.  Educators Rising competitions offer rising educators exciting, authentic opportunities to measure their creativity, skills, and initiative against high standards and their peers from across the country. Some states and regions hold preliminary rounds for competitions, and the final rounds take place on-site at the Educators Rising National Conference in June.
