Before students were allowed to take flight, each student completed instruction on basic drone operation, safety, and regulations and successfully passed a basic drone licensing test. Today, they were able to put that knowledge into practice with hands-on flight experience.
While flying, students practiced drone control, spatial awareness, safe operation, problem-solving, and capturing aerial photographs and video. They quickly discovered that successfully operating a drone requires much more than simply getting it off the ground!
Students also explored how drones are used throughout the hospitality and tourism industry. Hotels, resorts, tourism organizations, event venues, and travel destinations use drone photography and videography to showcase properties, highlight attractions, promote destinations, document events, and create engaging content for websites and social media.
This activity allowed students to see how technology, photography, videography, marketing, and tourism careers can all work together in the real world.
Career exploration isn’t just about learning what jobs are out there—it’s about giving students opportunities to experience the skills and technology used in those careers! 🚁📸🌎

📢 Stay in the know! Here’s how to make sure you’re receiving important ASD messages.
#WeAreASD #LearnLeadEXCEL

You may have noticed that you’re receiving attendance notifications even when your child’s absence was excused.
We want you to know why—and why we see this as a good thing!
A new Mississippi law requires schools to notify families when a student reaches three cumulative absences, whether excused or unexcused.
This notification does not mean your child’s absence was unexcused. Properly documented excused absences remain excused.
While these communications are now required by the state, we welcome the opportunity to keep our families informed about their child’s attendance. The sooner we communicate, the sooner we can work together to support our students.
More communication. More connection. More support for our students. That’s a good thing.
