Mr. Robert Harrick & Brent Farrar from HEXAD Solutions Group presented to ACTC students today. Construction, Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, and Information Technology programs learned about HEXAD's fiber technology and solutions. HEXAD brought with them a lot of equipment for demonstration, and allowed students the opportunity to use state-of-the-art fiber splicing tools. We're grateful for the time and work Brent and Robert invested in ACTC students today. Many good conversations have taken place that have helped students get a better idea of where they want to be and what they want to do in their future careers.

On Tuesday, IT students at ACTC competed at the Splicing Rodeo in Tupelo, put on by the collaborative efforts by Tombigbee Fiber and MEGAPOP. Out of around 70 total student participants, ACTC had three students make it to runoffs for semi-finals, 2 students make it to the semi-finals, and 1 student make it to the final round. Braden Pittman was in the top ten out of around 70 participants total! Students had fun competing in the fiber splicing, but it was incredibly worthwhile just to learn about fiber technology and geting to use the high-tech tools used by specialists in the field. As a bonus, ACTC students also got to see and operate autonomous vehicles from Mississippi State's CAVS professionals!
