This week's Mentor of the Moment is none other than our Aggie Band Director, Mr. Brandon Harvell! Students who nominated him said that he is always so kind and considerate of everyone's situation. Mr. Harvell always makes band a fun time and not only makes our shows look amazing but also makes band feel like a family. Congratulations, Mr. Harvell! We are so proud of the pride and hard work that you put into the amazing Aggie Band! We can't wait to see this year's full show!

Shoutout to Coach Brian Kelly, last week’s Mentor of the Moment. His players said that he is very encouraging and makes them want to do better in everything they do. Coach Kelly also had the football players sign a football to give to 1st grader Archer Stewart, who lost his father last week. We are so proud to have Coach Kelly’s influence at KHS!

Shoutout and congratulations to Schylur Jones and Natalie Harvell, who participated in the MSU Honor Band Saturday. These students rehearsed and performed at halftime alongside the Famous Maroon Band. At least 700 college and high school students participated! We are so proud of them for their putting forth the effort to increase their musical talents!

Kossuth High School students and staff would like to extend their deepest condolences to the family of Will Stewart, class of 2016. The Kossuth community is praying fervently for this family. Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM Thursday, September 4, at Magnolia Funeral Home (East). Visitation will be this evening from 5-8PM and Thursday, September 4, from 1-2PM at Magnolia. We are so very sorry for this loss.

Last week's Mentor of the Moment was Coach Brandon Pittman! Students said his class is always fun, there is never a dull moment, and he is always quick to explain when they don’t understand a concept. One student said, "He always has the best energy and pushes us to do our very best." His players are also grateful for his guidance in football and powerlifting and said he makes the experience more enjoyable. Congratulations Coach Pittman!

The Kossuth High School chapter of FBLA is sponsoring a "Mentor of the Moment" each week. The study body nominate the staff member of their choice and why they believe he or she should receive the Mentor of the Moment for that week.
This week's recipient is Mrs. Shiela Duncan. She teaches Spanish I, II, and III. Students who nominated her said that she is always so kind and greets us with a smile. One student said, "She inspires me to be a better person every day. She's the sweetest person and deserves so much. There is never a time in her class when you are ever bored or sad." One coworker said that Mrs. Duncan was a genuine mentor to her through hard times, and always prays for her and offers a hug just when it's needed."
Congratulations Mrs. Duncan!
Mrs. Duncan says she is pleasantly surprised and wasn't expecting it at all. She is grateful to be considered for this special award.

Auditions for "Sleepy Hollow," our next Drama Club production, will be today and tomorrow afternoon from 3:15-4:15 in Mrs. Amy Marsh's classroom. If your child is auditioning, they will need to be picked up by 4:15 in front of the K building. 7-12 grade roles, as well as 6 roles for 5th and 6th grade students! Come join us!
