Before the break, Career Coach Lewis arranged Information Technology classes to tour the National Guard Armory. During the tour, recruiter Kevin Bollig mentioned that there are over 130 different job opportunities available within the National Guard and not all of them have to do with guns and fighting. Students came back to class and researched the many different career opportunities available within the National Guard…specifically jobs related to technology. Students then searched for IT jobs in the National Guard and found many job opportunities from the east coast to the west as well as opportunities as close to home as Tupelo. Then, they learned about resume writing and completed a resume just in case they decided to apply for one of those jobs. Mrs. Greene and her students talked about how cool it would be to move across the country and start a career. They also talked about how comforting it might be to obtain a job close to home.

On day 2 of Mincey's Marketing Mixer, students learned the importance of BUDGETING. Huge thank you to Mrs. Taylor Johnson for her fantastic financial expertise and bringing her real life budgeting simulator, "The Fab Life". Students rotated through 14 real life stations such as, "utilities, buying/renting a home, insurance, and child care" to create a budget based on their monthly salary. Here are a few of our favorite quotes of the day: "I'm gonna go home and hug my mama!" "Can I put the kids up for adoption?" "I didn't even have any kids and that made me want to pull my hair out!" "I'm staying with my mama" "I'm only a couple hundred dollars in the hole." "I give up. I'll just be a kid."
