Mrs. Skylar Mincey's Marketing students have had a fun first few weeks of school. So far, we have played team building games, and covered the safety unit. Students learned about fire safety from Corinth Fire Department, situational awareness from Jeff Boren, personal identification security , and hands-only CPR.
Mrs. Greene's Information Technology students experienced the difficulty of reading instructions written with only 1's and 0's also known as binary code. Most modern computers use binary coding for instructions and data. Students spent the day writing their name and birthday in binary. We quickly gained appreciation for the speed and accuracy of computers.
Mrs. Alison Wade's Engineering II class enjoyed a MSDS activity outside supplemented with a little robot action.
Thank you to Corinth Fire/Rescue for their participation in ACTC's safety unit.
Mrs. Nan Nethery's first year Ed Prep students have been discussing the characteristics of effective teachers. Fun was had by all in creating their own "Teacher" to display in the hall. ACTC is blessed with the best teachers and students!
Mrs. Tila Johnson's Nursing students learning about safety for the patient and their environment today.
Mr. Daniel Derrick's Ag Natural students spent the day transforming the area around our school sign after their previous landscaping lesson. Students put out fresh mulch and also replanted all the flower pots around campus. Out with the wood, in with the stone.
ACTC students in Mr. Jesse Potts' Industrial Maintenance class enjoyed learning about harness safety. For part of their performance test, students get to properly fit a safety harness, hardhat, and safety glasses and see what it feels like to hang while wearing the personal fall arrest system. Hands on learning happening at ACTC!
Instructor Tara Lauderdale and her Culinary Arts students have been super busy having lots of fun in the lab while learning about the history of food, food safety, nutritious options, breakfast foods and sandwiches. "RealWorldEducation

On this day, February 23, 1917, the Smith-Hughes National Vocational Education Act was signed into law, launching the federal investment in career and technical education (CTE). Since then, federal CTE policy has evolved in response to changing U.S. economic and social conditions. Follow along as we highlight major legislation and other activities throughout more than 100 years.
What is CTE? CTE prepares the workforce across a wide range of industries and occupations. CTE is good for students, good for businesses and good for communities. Check out this flyer that includes statistical data about CTE. Learn more about CTE at acteonline.org

This week is National School Counseling Week 2023. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight our school counselor Mrs. Chanta Smothers. She has a tremendous impact on helping our students achieve school success and plan for a career. Every student deserves a school counselor and we are so thankful, this week and every week, for our very own Chanta Smothers. #NSCW23
