ACHS to Host Annual Christmas Event

The Golden Bear family awaits the holidays every year. This season is all about giving. During Christmas, Alcorn Central wants to show its gratitude for the community by giving back.

Several years ago, Tommy & Marea Wilson of Living Free Ministries teamed up with Alcorn Central High School to begin a program that would offer a warm meal to those in need on Christmas Day. Since its beginning, it has grown every year. Volunteers from all across the county come together to fix plates for over 300 inmates at the Alcorn County Correctional Center and for hungry members of the Alcorn Central community.

This all begins with the gracious donations of hundreds of people across the Crossroads area. Families have been donating money, turkeys, hams, and side dishes in order to prepare for this event.

The event takes place in the ACHS Cafeteria. Well, that is where the food is served anyways. Student and teacher volunteers will spread about the campus playing games and watching Christmas movies during the event. It also gives people a chance to fellowship with their neighbors and friends.

After eating dinner, families are given an opportunity to visit the ACHS Clothes Closet to pickup some needed winter items.

The school is currently accepting any and all donations for the clothes closet. Clothing items can be in any shape, style, size, or fashion but needs to be in decent, clean condition.

To help with preparing or serving food, you can contact Marea Wilson of Living Free Ministries at 662.643.7298 or marea@wilcocorinth.com.

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
