Alcorn Central High School is proud to have four hardworking philanthropists as members of the Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation under the umbrella of the Create Organization.
This year John Mask, Lauren Young, Rebekah Fields, and Lily Anna Nelms represented Alcorn County proudly as the four sole representatives from our area.
NEMYF is a student organization made up of high school juniors and seniors from the seventeen counties of Northeast Mississippi. The purpose of the foundation is to develop a sense of pride and respect within the youth of our society by giving back to the communities that raised them.
The council meets at the CREATE office in Tupelo on the second Sunday of every month.
This year, the NEMYF council raised over $8,000 to be dispersed among nine participating counties. The Alcorn County delegates met and decided to give their support to the Advocates fro Freedom. NEMYF of Alcorn County was able to donate $525.56.
Advocates For Freedom is dedicated to ending the exploitation, sale and enslavement of men, women and children. Through awareness and education, AFF has been leading the way to stop Human Trafficking throughout Mississippi and beyond. We want to inspire you to "look beneath the surface" and help find solutions to end this modern-day form of slavery - one life at a time!
The members of NEMYF are always reminded of the words shared by the founder of the Create Organization:
"There is no limit to what an organized community can do if it wants to" - George McLean
