Art students paint theatre backdrop

Margaret Wolfe Hungerford once said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." We are proud to say that visual arts teacher Mrs. Meaghan Haynie has been helping several students produce some beautiful pieces of artwork!

The ACHS Visual Arts classes are off to a great start with designing and painting the backdrop for our ACHS Drama class' production of Guys and Dolls. The backdrop is a topsy-turvy New York City street with glitter and glam. Students had the chance to study set design and effects of stage lighting and movement in relation to the the design of a theatrical backdrop. This opportunity also allowed them to conceptualize how their designs would help the cast tell a story. Student's were able to understand the impact of visual art in a new perspective through this project.

Students were also required to study and create monochromatic, analogous, and complementary color harmonies before completing their portfolio covers. As the semester progresses, students will be adding pieces to their portfolios as they explore new artistic mediums and forms of expression.

It is always good to see #LearninginACtion from our awesome staff and students!
