⭐️ Congratulations to ACHS 2026 Star Student!
Alcorn Central’s 2026 Star Student is Amanda Thompson, and she selected Mrs. Meaghan Haynie as Star Teacher.
The Mississippi STAR Student (Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition) program, sponsored by the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC), recognizes top high school seniors for exceptional academic achievements. To qualify, seniors must have an ACT composite score of 25 or higher and a minimum 93 overall average in specific subjects, then they select a teacher to be honored as a STAR Teacher.
Amanda Thompson was honored as this year’s STAR Student by having the highest ACT score in this year’s senior class. She and Mrs. Haynie were privileged to attend the STAR Student luncheon in Jackson, MS hosted by the Mississippi Economic Commission to recognize all these outstanding students from across the state.
