Congratulations to our ACHS Archery Team for being named the MHSAA Class 2A State Runner-Ups!
This is a reflection of such a great season for the Alcorn Central archers. They each put in a very long season and this is what they have to show for it. After clenching a County Championship and North Half title, Alcorn Central took their talent all the way to the state level and finished behind Itawamba Agricultural High School. The Golden Bear Archers shot a total team score of 3,279.
The highest female shooter for the Bears was Maura Rorie with a score of 279. The highest shooter for the boys was Alex Barnett with a 285. Their scores compiled with 22 of their best shooting teammates gained them the number two spot in the state. Alcorn Central went to the state competition two years ago after inducting the team and walked away in 13th place. After a cancelled season last year, Coach Nelson and his team was able to advance eleven positions in the state and compete with the best of them.
We are extremely proud of Coach Nelson and the ACHS Archery Team for such a great accomplishment.
