We are very excited to be welcoming several new faces to Alcorn Central this year. The  Golden Bear Family is growing, and we are happy to share with you all of our new additions!

We are very excited to welcome Rhonda Burton to the Golden Bear family as one of our new teachers!

Rhonda Burton graduated from Alcorn Central in 2012 and will be joining us as a Special Education teacher. She went to NEMCC and received an Associates Degree, then  graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 2016 from the University of North Alabama.

We wanted to know what motivated Ms. Burton when it came to this school year. She told us, “My hope for the 2021-2022 school year is to bond with my students and grow lasting relationships. I want my students to have a happy and successful life.”

Rhonda is coming to us with experience in several different roles. Pursuing a career in counseling after college, she worked with Riverbend in Florence. While there, she quickly realized that all her patients mentioned teachers in their lives that made impacts in a special way. She decided she wanted to be one of those people. She completed the Teach Mississippi Institute with endorsements in Psychology and Special Education. Her career in education began as a special education teacher assistant where she worked at both Kossuth and Alcorn Central. Last year, Ms. Burton served as the Self-Contained special education teacher at Iuka Middle School.

Rhonda was proud of her work at Iuka but is excited to return to her alma mater saying, “I loved working at Iuka Middle School. My students there will always have a special place in my heart. However, Alcorn Central will forever be my home. I am thrilled to be back!”

Welcome Ms. Burton! The Alcorn Central Golden Bear Family is proud to have you as a part of our spectacular team!!
