We are excited to welcome everyone back for what is sure to be a great first full week of school! As we begin the year, please take a moment to review these important reminders:
- Student Arrival: School doors open at 7:20 a.m. Please do not drop students off before this time, so we can ensure they are safely supervised and accounted for.
- Student Drivers: Any student driving to school must complete driver registration through the office. The following are required: Student Driver Registration Form, Copy of the student’s driver’s license, Copy of vehicle registration, and Proof of insurance.
- Parking Lot Procedures: Student drivers should exit their vehicles by 7:25 am or immediately upon arriving on campus if after 7:25am. Please make sure all needed items are taken into the building, as students will not be permitted to return to their vehicles during the school day or lunch unless they are leaving campus at the end of the day.
- Schedule Change Requests: Students who submitted schedule change requests will be contacted by the office only if their request is approved and will receive an updated schedule. Until then, all students should continue following their current schedule. If you have not been notified by Friday, your request was unable to be accommodated. Per Alcorn School District policy, no schedule changes will be made after this week.
- Fall Athletics: All fall athletes must complete their DragonFly registration. The MHSAA will begin compliance checks tomorrow. Students who have not completed registration will be ineligible to practice or compete until all requirements have been met.
- Student Devices: If your child has not yet received a school device, please complete the online technology form and send the $25 technology fee to school. Devices cannot be issued until both requirements have been completed.
- Grades 7-8 Screeners: Students in grades 7-8 will complete state-required reading and math screeners this week. These assessments help our teachers identify strengths and areas where additional academic support may be beneficial.
- Student Handbook: Please review the updated Alcorn School District Student Handbook on the district website. Important updates regarding dress code and cell phone expectations have also been shared through social media and previous Thrillshare messages.
- School Prayer Walk: Families are invited to join us for our School Prayer Walk on Wednesday, August 5, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Come at any time during those hours as we pray over our classrooms, hallways, buses, athletic facilities, staff, and students for a safe, successful, and Christ-centered school year.
Thank you for your continued support of Alcorn Central High School. We look forward to an outstanding year together. #weareAC
Tomorrow is the day! We are excited to welcome our students and begin an amazing school year at ACHS!
Here are a few important reminders for the first day of school:
🚗 Morning Arrival
Please be patient during morning drop-off. The first day is always our busiest.
Buses begin unloading at 7:25 AM each day.
Student drivers who arrive before 7:25 AM are expected to park, exit their vehicles, and enter the building by 7:25 AM. Students arriving after 7:25 should enter the building immediately upon arrival.
🎓 Senior Parade
The Senior Parade will begin at approximately 8:00 AM. We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2027!
🐻 Start of the School Day
On the first day only, the 7:40 AM bell will signal all students to report to the ACHS Gym for a welcome before heading to class.
Beginning the following day, students will report directly to class at the 7:40 bell.
The daily tardy bell rings at 7:50 AM, and students are expected to be in class and ready to learn at that time.
🎓 Career Center Students
Tomorrow only: Career Center students will not attend 1st Block. They will report directly to the Career Center and follow their regular schedule for the remainder of the day.
🏫 Dismissal
School dismisses at 3:00 PM.
We know that's a lot of information, but we'll continue sharing reminders and updates throughout the year to help everyone stay informed.
Thank you for partnering with us. We can't wait to welcome our Bears tomorrow!
One School. One Culture. One AC.

As we prepare to welcome students back to school, please take a moment to review our morning drop-off locations and traffic procedures. Following these guidelines will help keep traffic flowing smoothly and, most importantly, ensure the safety of all students, staff, and families.
PreK–4
Students in PreK through 4th grade will continue using the gravel entrance near the baseball field for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
- Please be aware of school bus traffic in this area.
- Follow the directions of the traffic attendant wearing the reflective safety vest at all times.
Grades 5–7
Students in Grades 5–7 will continue using the former middle school car line.
- Students should exit their vehicle and proceed up the steps into the building as they have in previous years.
- If you merge from the middle school car line into the elementary car line after dropping off, please stay to the right so other vehicles can safely exit the line.
Grades 8–12
New this year: Students in 8th grade will now be dropped off in front of the high school gym near the Bear statue, along with students in Grades 9–12.
- Please stay to the right while dropping off students to allow traffic to continue moving safely through the parking lot.
Safety Reminder
- School buses will be entering and exiting campus from approximately 7:10 a.m. until 7:50 a.m. Please use extra caution during this time and allow buses plenty of room to safely maneuver.
- Additionally, many of our students will be driving themselves to school. Please remain alert, drive slowly, and stay vigilant as you travel through campus.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we begin another great school year. By working together and following these procedures, we can help ensure a safe and efficient arrival for everyone each morning.

As we prepare for a great school year, please take a moment to review our student dress code and, more importantly, the reason behind it.
Our goal is to create a school environment focused on teaching, learning, safety, and respect.
A few important reminders:
* Wear clothing that provides proper coverage.
* Hats, caps, and hoods are not permitted inside the building.
* Clothing should not be distracting or interfere with the learning environment.
Students who are dressed inappropriately or whose attire is determined to be distracting to the school environment may be required to change into appropriate clothing. If this results in missed class time, the absence will be considered unexcused, as outlined in the Alcorn School District Student Handbook.
Our purpose isn't to police fashion—it's to help ensure every student can learn in a safe, respectful, and distraction-free environment.
Thank you for partnering with us by discussing these expectations with your student before the first day of school.
One School. One Culture. One AC.

ASD Policy: The use of cell phones, Bluetooth devices, or any electronic device not approved by the Alcorn School District is prohibited during instructional time.
What is instructional time?
Instructional time begins when students enter the classroom and continues until they are dismissed by the teacher. During this time, teachers should be teaching and students should be learning.
We all recognize that excessive screen time has become a challenge for many students, and cell phones can be a significant distraction to learning, engagement, and classroom success.
We encourage you to have this conversation with your student before school begins. When parents and schools work together, students are more likely to succeed.
Thank you for your partnership and support as we work to create classrooms where students can focus, learn, and thrive.
One School. One Culture. One AC.

School buses will be back on the road soon, and we need you to help us keep our students safe when buses are in motion. Please take a minute to watch this important video on measures and precautions we can take to make things safer for our students!

As Alcorn Central High School transitions to serving students in grades 7–12, we are thrilled to expand the educational opportunities available to our Jr High students! This exciting realignment allows us to offer new elective courses designed to help students discover their interests, develop new talents, and explore future career pathways.
To help us build the best possible schedule, we are asking both students and parents to share their input on which elective courses interest them most. While we will make every effort to place students in one of their top elective choices, course placement cannot be guaranteed due to scheduling and enrollment limitations.
We are proud to introduce the following elective opportunities for our 7th and 8th grade students:
Explorations of Agriscience
Explore agriculture, animal science, plant systems, natural resources, and hands-on learning experiences.
Chorus
Develop vocal skills, perform exciting music, and become part of a collaborative musical ensemble.
Theatre
Build confidence, creativity, and communication skills through acting, performance, and stage production.
Visual Arts
Express creativity while learning drawing, painting, design, and other artistic techniques.
We look forward to providing these exciting new learning experiences and helping our students discover their passions both inside and outside the classroom! Please complete the attached form.
