ACHS Dance Team Game Day Raffle Sponsored by The Dance Booster Club
Alcorn Central's Center Stage Rock and Roll Playwriting Unit has begun. Students created scenes based in the 40s,50s,60s, and 70s. Students researched and created a powerpoint describing topics from their chosen decades. In groups, students wrote scenes depicting what might have happened before and after a song from one of those decades. Students chose the appropriate costumes, props. and sets. They also blocked the scenes, created cues for lights and sound and performed their projects in front of classmates and faculty. All did a fantastic job! They were able to develop and communicate characters in improvisations and informal productions. See some of those moments below that we captured on film.

#LearninginACtion - English 2 students write 6 word memoirs.
As Ms. Jones prepares her students for the beginning of a reading unit on To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, she created a fun assignment where students had to write their own memoir. The twist was that it could only contain six words! It taught students to be concise and focus on main ideas.
This lesson helped reinforce standards revolving around literary theme and voice. In addition to the text, they had to illustrate it to match the theme of the message. We love to see our students engaging in their learning! Zoom in to see some of the great works!

Good evening! We are excited about having students return to our halls tomorrow! The new year presents new opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. Our faculty and staff are ready to get our students on the road to achieving greatness!
All ACHS students will report to the middle school gym once the senior parade has concluded in front of the gym tomorrow morning. All students will participate in an opening assembly and then head to normal classes.
Please ensure that all fees and paperwork have been completed to receive MacBook devices. Distribution will begin tomorrow.
Finally, set those alarm clocks and be safe on your way to school in the morning. If you ride a bus, please be aware that certain bus numbers/drivers may have changed as well as arrival times.

We are excited to welcome you back to ACHS for the 24-25 school year. Please take a look below at the dates and times for high school orientations and make plans to attend.
Seniors - Tuesday, July 23 @ 5pm
Juniors - Monday, July 29 @ 5pm
Sophomores - Monday, July 29 @ 6pm
Freshman - Monday, July 29 @ 7pm
Families will be able to pay the $25 technology fee and complete all necessary paperwork for students to receive devices during the first week of school.
Returning Senior Beta club members will be able to pay their $20 dues on orientation night as well. Incoming freshmen must receive an invitation before joining.
We also ask everyone to consider donating pairs of unused shoes to our Beta Club shoe drive to help provide footwear to local homeless shelters. For every three pairs of shoes donated, students will be entered into a drawing for a gift card to be given out on the first day of school. Every 25 pairs of shoes donated per student equates to 3 service hours.
