The Alcorn School District is aware of and will be monitoring the incoming weather situation this evening. Should the need for schedule changes arise, we will communicate as quickly as possible regarding all decisions.
Picture Day

The ACHS cheer team has been busy outside of practice volunteering their time and giving back. Last week seniors Anna Hardin, Cathy Hernandez and Ella Tucker painted windows at Chick-fil-A to participate in the county wide efforts to share school sprit for the football season. Tuesday Sept 10th the cheer team and Beary the bear visited the preK classes at the elementary as part of their Letter B unit. Beary took group pictures with all three classes and individual pictures with each student. The Cheerleaders handed out Gummy Bears and enjoyed playing on the playground with the PreK students.

The Campus of Alcorn Central is very proud of our new signage located at Highway 72 and County Road 218. All 3 campuses voted on the design that was submitted by the ACHS Student Yearbook Staff.

Alcorn County lend me your ear! Our lovely art teacher Mrs Meaghan is in need of large pieces of cardboard like appliance boxes for an art sculpture project next week. Who can help her out?

Alcorn Central's Center Stage Rock and Roll Playwriting Unit has begun. Students created scenes based in the 40s,50s,60s, and 70s. Students researched and created a powerpoint describing topics from their chosen decades. In groups, students wrote scenes depicting what might have happened before and after a song from one of those decades. Students chose the appropriate costumes, props. and sets. They also blocked the scenes, created cues for lights and sound and performed their projects in front of classmates and faculty. All did a fantastic job! They were able to develop and communicate characters in improvisations and informal productions. See some of those moments below that we captured on film.

#LearninginACtion - English 2 students write 6 word memoirs.
As Ms. Jones prepares her students for the beginning of a reading unit on To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, she created a fun assignment where students had to write their own memoir. The twist was that it could only contain six words! It taught students to be concise and focus on main ideas.
This lesson helped reinforce standards revolving around literary theme and voice. In addition to the text, they had to illustrate it to match the theme of the message. We love to see our students engaging in their learning! Zoom in to see some of the great works!
